Nelson Algren, one of Chicago’s most notable writers, had a long affair with Simone de Beauvoir, one of the 20th century’s most famous philosophers and authors…she was the life-long lover of Jean-Paul Sartre.

Most early movie theaters had only one projector so “etiquette slides” were used to divert the audience while reels were being changed. These glass slides often featured lighthearted instructions for proper behavior while viewing a film.

Road, Movie” began in 2004 as an original idea by Dev Benegal. To do research for the film, he traveled for a year with a transient cinema troupe that showcased different films in rural Rajasthan villages.
